I have ended up with sore fingers after pressing them against the strings and the guitar's neck. The body has a depth of 3 1/2 inches, which sometimes makes it difficult for me to reach over and strum. Its body has been scratched up and dented once or twice. However, the music still sounds great, so I don't mind the physical flaws my guitar has.
To actually play music, you can either pluck one string at a time, or strum many at once, playing a chord. The fingers of your left hand must hold down certain frets, which are the spaces between the lines, on the guitar's neck. Your right hand strums the strings to vibrate them and carry the (hopefully) beautiful sound to your ears.
