Force one to Help Another?

Helping one an another is a trait that we as humans is assumed is taught to us when we are merely children. It's a moral issue that is dealt with in every aspect of life. The question of whether one should go out of their way to help another, no matter how serious or silly. However, people are born selfish fortunately everyone has the capacity of attaining the trait of being a good samaritan. Despite the fact that many people are selfish, the common person should not be forced by law to help a person in need but should be taught-- retaught-- the moral issue of not helping one another.

Indeed the rate of tragedies may fall if one was forced by law to help another, but is that person who helped still considered a good samaritan if they were forced to help instead of genuinely doing an act of kindness? The act of helping a person in need is based on the beholders morals and ethics. Moreover, many people do not like to become involved in a situation that may cause trouble for themselves. In effect a tragedy is not stopped since a person does not feel called upon to react to the situation. Thus, people should be exposed to the issues and affects of not reacting to a situation, not be forced by law to help a person in need since it takes the good morals of the act of kindness in helping.
