One controversial rule for me at not just Olympian High school, but other schools around the country is the ban on "shop classes." By shop classes I mean auto shop, wood shop, and home ec. The reason why these classes were banned was because they were deemed to dangerous by school districts country-wide. Now yes in some schools it has been proven to be dangerous do to lack of safety and what not. But I believe if we can come up with some very strict safety guidelines, that keep students safe but still make classes fun, then we can bring back the classes that could teach valuable skills to students who are maybe interested in becoming a carpenter, mechanic, or maybe even a chef.
