A Rule that should be Changed: No gum

A rule that should be changed at Olympian High School is no gum chewing. What is gum chewing doing that has to do with interrupting our learning? I understand that teachers hate that gum gets on the bottom of desks and what not, or when someone is making to much noise with gum. To me it doesn't really matter because kids rebel against it anyway, they still chew gum in classes. When they're asked to spit it out the find more ways to get more gum and keep chewing during class. Sometimes gum relieves stress or takes peoples' minds off things while they're doing work. It relaxes some people and helps some people during school. I would change this by taking getting rid of the rule. What's the point of having the rule when no one really respects it or obeys it. I would allow gum chewing all around campus during anytime. While in P.E, English, history, just to name a few. If it's allowed outside of the classroom, then what is the difference of having it inside of class? Some teachers also chew gum, but make their students throw their gum away. What is the difference between a teacher chewing gum and a student chewing gum? I believe having a higher authority doesn't give them the right to break their own rules. Gum chewing is something that should be changed at Olympian High School.
