Irene - Eye of Disaster

Hurricane Irene has proven to be a problem for the east coast -not surprising considering the damage done from past hurricanes, like Katrina. 43 people perished in the storm and over 1.7 million people were left without power. Flood waters damaged businesses and homes and even affected agriculture on the coast (however, prices are not expected to rise). Destruction continues for places like Hawthorne, New Jersey, as the waters from the Passaic River continue to flow through the streets.
