While opening my presents on my 13th birthday I came to my last one. I knew this was going to be my big gift because it was coming from both of my parents. Anxiously I ripped the wrapping paper throwing it to the floor, and once I read the box I knew exactly what it was. I had finally gotten my own laptop.
Me and my friends were so surprised to see that I had gotten such a gift. I ran over to my parents to give a hug and say thanks then went right into opening my favorite present. My laptop came with so many fun features, including a webcam, DVD importer, usb openings that way I could charge my I-pod. There was also a sd card slot, that way I could import photos from my camera. My Uncle Chris helped me set up I-tunes, and helped me download things that were necessary for my computer.
With my laptop I am able to get work done from school, check my e-mail, search the internet for information on assignments and catch up with friends.I think every student should be provided with a laptop to be successful with homework. I am grateful to have a laptop of my own and suggest you to have one of your own yourself.

Carne Asada Fries

I walk into Lolita's taco shop and I wonder what to eat. Then I see one of the waiters push out one of the most delectable dish this side of the border. I smile to the person that claims the dish, he smiles back, both of us are in love with carne asada fries. The scent of fries and carne asada was so tempting, so I ordered some.
Now you may wonder what are carne asada fries? It is basically baked french fries with little salt, with fistfuls of carne asada or grilled beef piled onto it. Next comes the layers of guacamole, sour cream, cheese, and any other topping that you desire like tomatoes. It is soft and warm to bite, there is a multitude of flavors that occur at once in my mouth. It smells of a Mexican grill mixed with an American burger place.
There is no specific way to eat this dish, other than find a good spot to start, and let loose. However,to mix it up and keep the fries interesting, you need to add hot sauce or salsa verde to the mix. From there it is every french fry for himself as once you start you can't stop until it is all gone.

My Nikon D3100 - Danae Villicana
Ever since I was a young child I yearned for the gift of a professional camera. The day I saw the Nikon D3100 in a Carlsbad Costco a few months ago, I knew I needed to have it. From a distance-- the entrance of the huge wholesale store-- it looked amazing. The way the light was capturing each angle of the camera mesmerized my feeble body which in seconds felt my wobly knees walk straight to it. Not even realizing the angered peaple pushing their carts trying to ram through me.
As I grabbed the camera I paid attention to the weight of it, seemingly it felt heavier then I believed it would be. I quickly pressed the camera to my face and fit my eye through the viewfinder. The view was amazing; incredibly crystal clear and eye blastingly vivid, even though I was only looking at the boxed up televisions on the adjacent aisle, I knew the potential the camera had. Next my eyes fell to the many options of buttons surrounding the whole camera. At the time I didn't know what much of the buttons with confusing letters and numbers located near them meant. If you don't know what you're looking for in a camera, it is as if driving on a freeway blind. Finally my eyes rolled to glimpse quickly at the price, it was steep.
Thankfully I was lucky when I picked the Nikon D3100, I had absolutely no idea what specific type of camera to look for and what a bargain would be or not. To buy a camera, one should review consumer reports of many buyers of different brands of cameras. A crucial step is to also compare prices, whether one brand be cheaper than another, or to buy at a store--such as Costco-- or online. Though I do suggest to buy a camera that has the best reviews even if it is expensive, therefore you will get the most out of your incredible camera.
First Smartphone Diego Florez
During summer break I was finally able to get my first smartphone. I choose the cheapest, but still pretty good, model since I was paying for it with my own money. I chose a Titanium colored, 3.2" touch-screen, Android powered LG Optimus T. It took about an hour waiting in agony waiting for the phone to be activated. Once I had that phone I finally felt like my teenage life was complete. The LG Optimus T comes in to colors, Titanium (my color) and Maroon. Its got great battery life for a smartphone and runs pretty smoothly. But because its a lower to mid-range model it has a low screen quality which makes it hard to see in sunlight. Also for some people using Android OS is a difficult task.
One of the most difficult parts of using a smartphone is finding out how to find and download apps like Angry Birds. First you have to find your Android Market app in the app tray. Once you find it, you click it and abracadabra your magically transported to the Android Market. Next, you search an app your looking for, click download and now you are the new proud owner of an Android app.
My Ipod
When I first got my Ipod I was excited because I get to get rid of the old one I had before. The Ipod is a small square just the perfect size I wanted it. The color of the ipod is Silver with a black frame around the screen.
The main use for this ipod is to listen to music like all the other ipods have been used for. The music it is filled with is Electro, Dubstep, Hip-hop, and rap. There are only 3 buttons on top the volume control and the sleep button. On the bottom of the ipod it has the charger slot, and where the earphones go. When you take it off sleep it is usually at the cover of the song that is playing, or it is at the main menu when you turn it on.
The process of putting on songs into the ipod isnt quite complicated, but it requires a usb cord, the ipod, and a computer with itunes. How my ipod is set up is when you plug it into the computer itunes opens up. The only thing you have to put songs into an ipod is drag the songs from the itunes library into your Music folder of your ipod. Otherwise you can make a playlist in your ipod and drag the music from the library into there.
My Drum Major Baton :)
My first year of band I met Eric Castro, who inspired me to be drum major. To be one you need a drum major baton- see how that works? The Christmas that my parents got me the exact one I wanted! I was so super excited. I don't have a good picture of it but, this picture is the same shape and style. My military baton is gold with black rope twisting down it. This seems fitting considering it is two of our school colors. The dome on the top is a shiny silver. My baton is slightly bigger and heavier then the rest because it is made for bigger marching bands. But our band is growing and it may be fitting by the time I am drum major.
Spinning a baton can be rather complicated at the beginning. Even sill, there is a lot to work on during parade season. The drum major is at the very front of the band. Everyone is looking to YOU. You have to be marching in time, on the right foot, not to far ahead of the band and the whole time you are spinning a ridiculous baton routine. On top of that, judges are watching you, taking notes and grading intricate details. They judge the band as a whole and the drum major alone.
My Phone
My dad enters the room and hands me a box. I look at the cover and see that it is a new cellular phone. The new LG RUMOR 2. I turn on the phone and look at all of its features. It was about four inches tall and two inches wide.
The phone had many features. It could access the internet and had unlimitted talk and text. It could also take pictures and put them up as the screensaver. It was also able to download applications for practically anything.
When downloading applications you first have to go on the internet and find a website where you can download applications. Then you find an application that you would like to have and download it. Although sometimes the phone may detect something wrong and stop the process. Also there might be a bug in the application and you will not be able to use the application at all.
